At least 31 states currently have Idle Limiting Regulations that if not adhered to can lead to fines in excess of $24,000.00 and imprisonment of up to 1 year. Many of the truck manufacturers have now incorporated a new exhaust system that allows the truck to burn cleaner and therefore be in compliance with the new anti-idling laws. This however doesn't address the cost of fuel associated with excess Idling. Malone Specialty Inc. had conducted tests that prove controlling the time an engine can Idle can save up to 25% in fuel expenses. This can also decrease the wear on the engine which in the long run will decrease maintenance costs.
